Outreach Opportunities

St. Andrew and Holy Communion participates in a variety of services to the community throughout the year.

North Porch

In January, celebrating the birth of Jesus, the church presents gifts of disposable diapers to the North Porch Women and Infants' Center, an emergency service providing supplies of formula, baby food, diapers, clothing, and bed linens for needy mothers and children up to age four in Newark, Paterson, Dover and surrounding communities.

Clothing for Children, Women and Men

Clothing is collected throughout the year for the Essex County Battered Women and children's Shelter and for St. Andrew’s Church Men's Shelter in Newark.

Soup Kitchen

We participate in Soup Kitchen located at Holy Trinity Church in West Orange. Providing nutritious noontime meals to the homeless and poor, volunteers from area churches prepare and serve the food. SAHC is on duty four days each year.

We also collect food year round for Apostles House in Newark.

Interfaith Hospitality Network

Interfaith Hospitality Network for Homeless of Essex County, a volunteer led non-profit organization, partners with other religious congregations to shelter and support homeless families and help them gain self-sufficiency.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Newark is dedicated to building simple, decent homes in Essex County, N.J. SACH will team with other religious congregations -- Christians and Jews -- to build “Abraham House.”

Help for Darfur

SAHC has donated books and school supplies for the children of Darfur refugee camps and is working to spread the news of the deadly conflict in Darfur, a region of Sudan, Africa.
